Equipment for new DJ (running laptop/Macbook)?

What would be the fundamental equipment? Basics please. Im going to be running everything from my Macbook. Sometimes non-standard due to you.
BTW, for tables, which kind would be ideal if I'm running from a laptop?
For the most part depends on your budget...
If you have a low budget (like me) you would presumably want to invest in a USB DJ controller that allows you to play and cook music files on your laptop through a software program.
